Welcome to the sixteenth post in a weekly series on new Canadian music! This week it is wavy spacy electro dance with a review of Humans’ EP ‘Traps’.
Robbie Slade and Peter Ricq, are Humans, an electronic music duo based in East Vancouver. Combining swaying vocals with the sound of some ‘real’ instruments on lingering electronic sampling of bass and drum beats that is Humans and they’re not ‘robots’. The EP ‘Traps’ is bringing the tunes for your sweaty late late club dance and the après party zoning out times.
Humans are part of Hybridity Music , and that is not just a record label … Hybridity calls themselves ‘a cross-pollination of performance, music, art, and technology’ … I imagine something like the ultimate music blender, mixing all the good stuff into an overall experience for eyes and ears? Nothing wrong with that, eh!
Tracks that appealed my ears the most on ‘Traps’ are early Cafe Del Mar meets Basque dance ‘De Ciel’, cheerleaders and multiple drums ‘On Pagaie’ and late clubber with classic drum kit ‘Horizon’. Listen to Humans Bandcamp full EP stream of ‘Traps’.
