In my review of the Lloyd Cole Small Ensemble’s performance last April at People’s Place I speculated about the artist having a difficult relationship with Amsterdam and quoted some of the People’s staff commenting on Lloyd’s moody disposition before the gig. The result is that I managed to get one of my long time musical heroes to accuse me of printing hearsay. Lloyd Cole and several of his fans were so upset that I cowardly revised the review. (The offensive version is still up on Cole’s own side). The dubious plus side to this little incident is that it earned the Fuzz a lot of traffic.
In March of next year I will get a chance to make things right. On the 15th of that month Lloyd Cole will give a solo performance in the Amstelkerk. Taking in to account my gift of escalation, the best way to make up is to have no interaction with Lloyd whatsoever, but instead getting as many Indiefuzzers as possible to attend his show.
A better reason to attend, is that Lloyd Cole’s solo performances are intimate and entertaining. If you like Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard and other newbie singer-songwriters with forgettable names, this is your chance to see a sharp-witted and elegantly grey master at work.
Ticket sales start tomorrow.
Thanks Manou, good pre-publicity, and I hope it goes well. We all welcome your review of this show. The last review was interesting to say the least.
Thanks Tim, let’s make it a good one.
Really? That slightly akward moment at the signing of your CD was back in April? Times does fly.
