Welcome to the third post in a weekly series on new Canadian music ! This week is punk with a review of White Lung’s album ‘Sorry’.
While out and about researching the Vancouver music scene I walked into a radio station. Yes, you heard me right…a radio station. The station is called CiTR 101.9FM and it is run by students of UBC. I first heard of this station when reading through an issue of Discorder that I had picked up someone along my research trail. Discorder is a magazine from CiTR 101.9 FM and while flipping through it I read their album review on White Lung’s new LP Sorry. I had never heard of White Lung before so I knew this was some new Canadian music to add to my list.
White Lung is a Vancouver punk rock band started back in 2006. Their first album It’s The Evil was Exclaim’s punk album of 2010. Since I’m always interested in old and new punk rock I was intrigued and decided to listen to the full album stream. And yes, you can do that too with the following link:
In a true punk rock fashion ‘Sorry’ has 10 short punchy song containing hammering drums, classic punk guitar riffs, and a lead singer which yells their way (in a fast punk rock pace) through the 10 songs and manages to finish it all within 20 minutes. Check out the album stream and enjoy it yourselves – not just Vancouverites but also you Dutchonians !
